When My Finnish Friends Took Me to the Sauna

Let me tell you about my strangest experience ever.
    Last winter I travelled all the way from Ethiopia to Finland to visit my penpal Ari. Everything was new for me. We built castles of snow and I even tried to ski. Finally in the last evening Ari and some of his Finnish friends took me to the sauna.
    First they told me to climb up on the sauna benches. Then they threw water on a big box filled with stones. I was scared, because the box made strange noises. Suddenly the room became extremely hot! I was sweating and coughing, but my friends seemed to enjoy themselves. After a while Ari started to hit me with a bunch of birch twigs! I asked him to stop, but he told me that it is a tradition to use bath whisks in the sauna.
    I am very proud of myself after all this, but I would never go to the sauna again.
