Tourism and Terrorism

Terrorist acts aimed at tourists seem to have
become more common. Almost every week new attacks are reported. For example in
Spain Basque fringes are trying to get independence by attacking hotels and
tourist attractions.
Why do some fringe groups want to massacre tourists, who
don't usually have anything to do with the things the fringes are promoting?
Terrorist attacks frighten tourists and they start avoiding countries where they
must fear for their lives. That endangers an important source of government
revenues, namely tourism. Tourists bring funds to the countries they visit, and
if they stop coming, the country loses income.
Terrorism is a powerful weapon, but it's a totally immoral
way of trying to affect things. It often causes some kind of revenge and isn't
good in the long run. In my opinion negolation is the best way of making a
change. You don't have to go to extremes to be heard. A mature conversation will
do the thing.
